The Crack into Sleep Is the Crack into Dreaming

The Crack into Sleep Is the Crack into Dreaming” explores the fragile boundary between waking life and the dream world. Through minimalist imagery, I place subjects within the everyday, capturing subtle details and emotions that hint at something deeper, something hidden. These cracks act as portals to the subconscious, where distance and closeness exist in tension, creating an intimate yet distant feeling.

Some double-exposure images deepen the story, layering memories and moments that feel like flashes from the past, resonating in the quiet corners of our minds. These cracks reveal a glimpse into the unseen, a visual journey through the layers of the subconscious, where the past and present blur.

Li Hui is a photographer whose work explores the boundaries between the seen and the unseen, the real and the imagined. Her images capture fleeting moments where light and shadow intersect, revealing subtle emotions and hidden truths. Drawing from themes of mysticism, memory, and transformation, Li Hui’s photography reflects her ongoing exploration of the human connection to nature and the subconscious.

Her first book, After The Wind, delves into the quiet beauty of nature’s hidden spaces, while No Word From Above focuses on the small, often overlooked details of the natural world—those subtle, invisible forces that shape our lives. Through her work, Li Hui invites viewers to pause, reflect, and engage with the often unnoticed beauty and mystery of everyday existence.

Li Hui’s work has been exhibited internationally, and she was a finalist for Red Hook Labs New Artists II. Her photography is a personal and meditative exploration of the invisible threads that bind us to the world around us.
