It’s a strange world, isn’t it?

Sandy Williams
(Blue Velvet 1986 David Lynch)

Blue Velvet tells of the Contrast between the shimmering world of American suburbia – made of well-kept flowerbeds and perfectly tidy dwellings – and the dark soul of the same provincial towns that – moving under track – can – sometimes – emerge on the surface, creating dissonant situations and surreal. The titles of the photographs reflect the names of the characters in the film.

Luca Abbadati lives and works as a Photographer and Architect between Brescia and Milan. His research is concerned with the geometric relationships between things and with the proportions between natural and constructed elements. He does not photograph – almost never – people. Between 2017 and 2018 he organized, in collaboration with the Associazione Archivi Ventrone, exhibitions in the cities of Catania, Naples and Palermo. His works have been exhibited in several galleries including the Engraving Gallery in Brescia. In 2018 he obtained the PRS Talent Prize at the Milanese edition of Paratissima. Also in 2018 some of his “shots” dedicated to informal ways of inhabiting the domestic space were published in the Spontaneous volume.
