Rest Easy I’ll See You Again is an ongoing project that captures my evolving relationship to Shanghai and family through ephemera, archive, and the images of the private and public spaces that I exist in. It touches on themes of memory, time, space, and structures.
Michelle Shen is a Chinese-American photographer from Dallas, TX and is currently based in New York City. Her work explores her familial relationships, navigating themes of identity and investigating concepts of how histories are preserved and or erased. Her current photographic interests take on a more anthropological perspective, examining how cultures and memories are preserved in spaces. Michelle completed a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Studio Arts at Wellesley College, and holds a certificate from the International Center of Photography’s one-year Documentary and Visual Storytelling program. Her work has been featured in Fotofilmic’s JRNL 18 and highlighted on PhMuseum for the 2024 Women Photographers Grant.
